We participate in the Florida Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program. Children who are eligible for the VPK program may attend from 8:30 to 12:30 at no cost to the parent. VPK children are served breakfast and lunch as part of this program. We also accept School Readiness funded children (4-C). Welbourne Nursery and Preschool was established in 1927 in order to provide affordable, quality childcare for working families living in Hannibal Square (Winter Park Westside). For many years, we have continued to serve families and prepare their children for future academic success. While providing this invaluable service, we have enabled families to remain working and self-sufficient.
When you enter our nursery, you will immediately notice the care we provide each student. Our classrooms are for infants, toddlers, twos, Pre-K3, and VPK.

We maintain different classrooms for different age groups and activities. You can visit our school and see the facilities for yourself.
- Infants: Our youngest children begin to understand the world through their senses. We help develop these skills including sensorimotor, psychomotor, language development, cognitive development, motor skills, and social and emotional development. We enjoy reading and singing songs to infants as well as having objects to see and touch.
- Toddler Curriculum: Children learn how to interact with both people and objects. We find that this increases their ability to express their natural interests and curiosity about the world around them. This means including free play, singing, storytelling, self-help skill development, manipulative play, gross motor play, and other activities.
- Two-Year-Olds: This program includes a group setting and private classroom so every child can learn about and about their world. Our staff encourages two-year-olds to participate in conversations with others as well. We also learn about toilet training, dealing with frustration, encouraging self-help skills, and more.
- Pre-K3: We focus on the environment because young children learn through interacting with their physical and social worlds. Our teachers also support their education by enriching the classroom. As such, children are encouraged to ask questions and explore. We use songs, storytelling, language, games, blocks, and other creative materials. They are able to develop their own unique themes of play.
- Pre-K4 (VPK): We make sure your child is intellectually, emotionally, physically and socially ready to enter school. The VPK program focuses on vocabulary, letters, words, math and cognitive skills, hands-on experiences, group activities and more.
